we want to apply the school aim of ‘excellence in education’ in a geographical context. this is summed up below:

ks4: gcse geography (aqa syllabus a)
unit 1 – physical geography (37.5% of final grade): · water on the land, · the coastal zone, · the restless earth. unit 2 – human geography (37.5% of final grade): · population change, · tourism, · globalisation. unit 3 – controlled assessment (25% of final grade): an investigation based on tourism in the lake district national park. pupil will undertake a field trip in order to collect primary data for their investigation. ks5: as and a2 level geography
we follow the aqa geography specification at a level. as: unit 1 – human and physical geography (70% of as-level): pupils study a ‘core’ unit in addition to an ‘optional’ unit in both human and physical geography. core units:
as: unit 2 – geographical skills (30% of as-level): pupils undertake a residential field trip to malham tarn field studies centre in preparation for this examination. a2: unit 3 – contemporary conflicts and challenges (60% of a2-level): pupils study 1 physical geography topic and 2 human geography topics.
a2: unit 4a – geography fieldwork investigation (40% of a2-level): pupils carry out a geographical enquiry in the local area in preparation for this examination. staff |
